Ed Miliband: Local results show 'deep sense of discontent with way things run'
Labour leader Ed Miliband has said his party is determined to attract UKIP's new voters and to go on to win the next general election.
Results from England's local votes show some gains for Labour, while Nigel Farage's UK Independence Party has seen a substantial surge in support.
Mr Miliband told the BBC: "We saw some people turning to UKIP. I'm determined that over the next year we persuade them that we can change their lives for the better."
