Vote 2014: UKIP makes early gains in English local elections
UKIP is gaining council seats across England at the expense of both the Conservatives and Labour, with the count still in progress.
The Lib Dems are suffering the heaviest losses so far with most results in 161 English councils still to come.
Eleven councils in Northern Ireland are also up for grabs and results from the European Parliament vote are due on Sunday.
