European election: UKIP's Farage hails 'extraordinary' result

Nigel Farage has retained his seat in the European Parliament, amid signs that his party could top the poll in the UK European elections.

In his acceptance speech, the UKIP leader said "the people's army of UKIP have...delivered the most extraordinary result..in British politics for 100 years."

Earlier, Mr Farage told David Dimbleby that he believed that the predicted success of Euro-sceptic parties across Europe would have a bigger impact on domestic politics in member states than in the European Parliament itself.
