Labour's strategy on UKIP was wrong says Jack Straw

Former UK foreign secretary Jack Straw has told BBC HARDtalk that Labour's decision not to talk about the political threat of UK Independence Party (UKIP) in their election strategy was wrong.

"In retrospect it would probably been better if we had talked about it," he said.

Mr Straw denied the decision was a misunderstanding over the current mood of the British public.

"All parties have to make a judgment when they are facing attack from a third or fourth party that has not been in power as to how to handle it," he added.
