Relax Sunday trading rules says Tory MP Philip Davies

It is 20 years since the Sunday Trading Act allowed shops in England and Wales to open, although restrictions on hours were imposed on larger stores, such as supermarkets.

Conservative MP Philip Davies said it was now time to relax them further, as online shopping has reformed the trade, and it was unfair to stop the larger stores opening up for those who wanted to visit in person.

He wants to make it even easier to shop on a Sunday, and had tabled some amendments to the Deregulation Bill.

He will debate this personal film on Wednesday's Daily Politics around 12:45 BST with former Tory leader Lord Howard and Labour's Chris Leslie, The whole programme will be on iPlayer for seven days.
