Alleged abusers were at 'top of political tree'

A child abuse charity has told the BBC it is "aware" of allegations made against senior figures in Westminster.

Peter Saunders, from the National Association for People Abused in Childhood, said the allegations concerned young boys being sexually abused by men in the "higher echelons of Westminster life".

Mr Saunders told BBC Radio 5 live's Victoria Derbyshire if the claims were true, it would "make the expenses scandal look like a picnic in the park".

Home Secretary Theresa May is set to outline plans for a "wide-ranging" inquiry, led by an expert panel, into historic child sex abuse claims.
