Labour conference: Miliband with apprentice Elizabeth
Ed Miliband introduced delegates at the Labour conference to Elizabeth the apprentice electrician, one of a series of people name-checked in his speech.
He said Labour had a plan for the number of school leavers taking up an apprenticeship, to match the number of those going to university by 2025.
His speech was peppered with references to people he had met in recent weeks, including Colin, who remembered the foundation of the NHS, Gareth at a software company, and a cleaner called Josephine.
