Labour's Liz McInnes on winning Heywood and Middleton
Labour has held the Greater Manchester seat of Heywood and Middleton in a by-election, but with its majority cut to 617 votes by second-placed UKIP.
Winning candidate Liz McInnes blamed Tory votes going to UKIP for the narrow margin of her win, in a seat previously seen as safe for Labour.
She told Andrew Neil on BBC This Week: "We had not anticipated the Tory vote collapsing in the way that it did."
And she added that she was a local candidate who "knows what makes people tick here".
