Jose Manuel Barroso: No single European 'super state'
The outgoing president of the European Commission, Jose Manuel Barroso, has made an appeal to pro-European politicians in the UK to make a stronger case for remaining in the EU.
In a speech at Chatham House in London, Mr Barroso said that member nations would find they were more powerful inside Europe than out.
He also said that he did not think Europe should move towards a single super state.
