Europe expects Britain to pay EU bill 'and that's that'

An MEP and vice-president of the European Parliament has said that Europe "expects" Britain to pay the £1.7bn top-up bill from the European Union "and that's that".

Speaking on the Today programme, Alexander Lambsdorff, an MEP from the Free Democratic Party of Germany, added that the issue has been "mishandled, but it has been mishandled inside the UK's government".

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Saturday 25 October.
