Clegg backs curbs on EU migrant benefits
Nick Clegg says Britain can tackle immigration fears by curbing benefits to migrants from the European Union rather than interfering with the principle of free movement.
Speaking during a visit to Berlin, the deputy prime minister said migrants would have to earn a certain amount before qualifying for in work benefits.
He warned the Conservatives were in danger of making "irresponsible declarations" on Europe in a bid to quell party unrest at the rise of UKIP.
