Autumn statement, Osborne: 'We have got the pace right'
Chancellor George Osborne says the UK must "stay on the course to prosperity" as he seeks to defy critics with his Autumn Statement to MPs.
He said that although borrowing was set to be £91.3bn this year - above the forecast £87bn - the longer term outlook was rosy, with the UK "out of the red and into the black" by 2019/20.
In his statement, he said the government had "the pace right" when it came to making cuts and that because of "careful management" the National Health Service would benefit.
