UKIP general secretary Roger Bird 'lied over relationship'

Natasha Bolter has claimed UKIP's general secretary was "lying" when he said they had a relationship.

Roger Bird has been suspended by UKIP while it investigates a complaint relating to candidate selection.

Ms Bolter, speaking to Tom Mangold for Newsnight, has accused Mr Bird of propositioning her on the day he oversaw her completion of an exam for prospective candidates.

Mr Bird denies that version of events, claiming he had a "consensual relationship" with Ms Bolter and has released text messages which he said back up his case.
