Leon Brittan death: William Hague tribute in Commons

Lord Brittan was a "kind, assiduous and brilliant man" said William Hague who succeeded him as MP for Richmond in Yorkshire.

The Leader for the House and former Conservative Party leader paid tribute to the former home secretary whose death was announced on Thursday afternoon.

The former Conservative MP was home secretary in Margaret Thatcher's government from 1983 to 1985, died aged 75 after a long battle with cancer.
