UKIP MEP Amjad Bashir defects

UKIP MEP and communities spokesman Amjad Bashir has been suspended over financial and employment concerns, the party has said.

Party leader Nigel Farage said there were "extremely serious" questions which Mr Bashir had not answered.

It has also emerged that Mr Bashir has decided to defect from UKIP and join the Conservative Party, as Iain Watson reports.
