Broadcasters may 'empty chair' party leader TV debates

The latest disagreement over the election TV debates continues as broadcasters consider showing an 'empty chair' if a party leader declines to take part.

Former BBC Chairman, Lord Grade believes broadcasters have gone too far in the stand off over the leadership debates, and said the BBC should not show an "empty chair" if a leader decides not to turn up.

Prime Minster David Cameron only wants to take part in one debate with seven other party leaders before the general election campaign begins.

At Prime Minster's Questions, David Cameron and Ed Miliband exchanged strong personal insults at each other amid heckling of 'chicken noises' in the chamber.
