Andy Burnham urges early EU referendum

Labour leadership contender Andy Burnham has said the party should change its position on Europe and support holding a early referendum on membership of the EU.

Mr Burnham said David Cameron should first win concessions that would help to limit immigration.

The policy change comes amid a turbulent time for the party, as it comes to terms with its election defeat at the general election and Jim Murphy's resignation as leader of Scottish Labour on Saturday.
