Jolie gives evidence to Westminster on sexual violence in war

Actress Angelina Jolie has been giving evidence at Westminster, to the newly-established House of Lords Committee on Sexual Violence in Conflict.

She is the Special Envoy of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and co-founder of the Preventing Sexual Violence Initiative.

As UN envoy, she has visited many areas of conflict and victims of sexual violence.

She told the committee that sexual violence was used as a "terrorising and brutal weapon" and that so-called Islamic State was using rape as an "effective weapon" to destroy communities and families.
