MP Gapes on Corbyn choosing shadow chancellor McDonnell
The choice of John McDonnell as shadow chancellor may have been a surprise to some politicians and pundits.
And one Labour MP had to double check the announcement when he was told the news live on Radio 4's Westminster Hour.
Mike Gapes, a former chairman of the foreign affairs select committee, asked Carolyn Quinn: "Are you sure about that?" when she asked for his reaction.
The Ilford South MP then told her it was a "shame" as "all the top jobs will be held by men".
Conservative MP Mark Field said he was very worried about the appointment, and he claimed the business community and capital markets would "very much give the thumbs down to this".
