Michael Fallon on extending anti-IS operation to Syria
A year after Britain started airstrikes against the so-called Islamic State in Iraq, Defence Secretary Michael Fallon has been talking about gaining MPs' authority to extend the operation into Syria.
"We want to be sure of a reasonable majority," he said, "but Parliament will have to continue to think about the difficulty of the RAF stopping at a border that ISIL themselves don't recognise."
Prime Minister David Cameron last year vowed that IS would "be squeezed out of existence". Mr Fallon said progress was being made but admitted it had been slow.
