Lord Richards: RAF 'would make a difference' in Syria

Lord Richards, former chief of the defence staff, says having the RAF involved in the raids on Syria "would make a difference" in the battle against Islamic State militants.

Speaking on BBC Radio 4's Today programme, he said the current strategy to defeat IS was "too slow and ponderous" and UK involvement could help give it "oomph".

He told John Humphrys that the most plausible strategy was to first get all regional forces working together to fight IS and then work out the residual political situation afterwards.
