Spending Review: Moment McDonnell pulled out Mao's 'Little Red Book'

Chairman Mao's "Little Red Book" made a surprise appearance in the Commons, when Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell brandished a copy while accusing the government of relying on Chinese investment.

Mr McDonnell started quoting from the book and then threw a copy of the book at Chancellor George Osborne.

The avowed left-winger was joking about the chancellor's decision to sell off some of Britain's public assets to the Chinese.
