Philip Hammond opens his first Autumn Statement

Philip Hammond opens his first Autumn Statement telling MPs that the UK has the "fastest growing major advanced economy in the world."

The chancellor said unemployment was at an 11-year-low and the economy had bounced "back from the depths of recession".

And he claimed it "confounded commentators at home and abroad with its strength and its resilience" since the referendum vote in June.
