NHS and social care in a state of emergency says Corbyn

Jeremy Corbyn has accused the government of putting the NHS and social care in England in "a state of emergency".

Speaking during Prime Minister's Questions, the Labour leader said: "We need a government that puts the NHS first."

But Prime Minister Theresa May said she would "take no lessons on the NHS... from the party that presided over" the Mid-Staffs scandal.

In 2015, the NHS trust that ran Stafford Hospital was fined £500,000 for "basic" blunders linked to the deaths of four patients.
