Labour MP: I regret 2013 Syria vote

Labour MP Alison McGovern has said she regrets voting against taking military action in Syria in 2013 "every day"

In August 2013 MPs rejected the government’s proposals for possible UK military action against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's government to deter the use of chemical weapons.

Alison McGovern told 5 live’s Your Call: “I regret whether or not we ought to have brought the Prime Minister back.”

“The reason for voting against was because we had concerns about what was being suggested. Should I, could I have done more to make him come back with a better strategy and a clearer plan?”

“That’s what I have to live with every day.”
