Labour to 'sweep away' NHS outsourcing
One of Labour's manifesto pledges is to "reverse the privatisation" of the NHS. What will this entail?
Shadow Health Secretary Jon Ashworth says this will not affect the involvement of charities and not-for-profit organisations.
He tells the Today programme the NHS should be the "preferred provider," but acknowledges there will be examples "where in order to increase capacity you need to use the private sector".
"We are going to sweep away the provision of the Health and Social Care Act that insist on all this competitive tendering and outsourcing," Mr Ashworth says.
