Grant Shapps on Aberdeenshire train crash near Stonehaven

The passenger train derailment in Aberdeenshire was a “very tragic incident”, Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has said.

He said the UK had “one of the safest railways in the world and certainly in Europe”.

Mr Shapps said “the main thing is to get to the facts” and he will be going to the site, near Stonehaven, on Thursday “to offer every possible assistance”.
