Cladding: ‘I’ve had to listen to heartbreaking tales’

Shadow Secretary for Housing, Thangam Debbonaire says she has heard “heartbreaking tales” of people paying increased costs and losing their homes because of unsafe cladding

Labour are calling for the government to set up a national cladding taskforce to tackle the issue.

Speaking to 5 Live’s Naga Munchetty, Thangam said the government has “rightly told people to stay home [during lockdown], but for these people they’re being told to stay home in a home that is not safe… this is an appalling way to treat people“.
