Calling for Gaza ceasefire now 'not in anyone’s interest’ - Sunak

Ahead of a debate on calls for a ceasefire in Gaza, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said the government backed an “immediate humanitarian pause” in the Middle East.

Responding to a question from the SNP's Patricia Gibson, he said “calling for an immediate full ceasefire now” risked fighting starting again within days or weeks and was "not in anyone's interest".

He said the government was committed to finding a “lasting resolution” with a two-state solution.
