Councils look to save money as darkness falls

As clocks go back an hour, it will be getting darker earlier in the evening and street lights will be coming on earlier.

With councils looking closely at everything they spend money on, many have been looking at how to cut the cost of lighting.

Some have even been turning off lights in the small hours.

The Scottish government has been asked by Westminster for its views on moving clocks forward by one hour for a trial period of three years.
