Martin Boyce wins Turner Prize

The Glasgow-based artist Martin Boyce was crowned the winner of this year's Turner Prize.

The work of the 44-year-old has been described as similar to that of the innovators of 20th Century Modernism.

The Hamilton born artist, who failed his first application to study at Glasgow School of Art, is the third Scot to win in as many years.

Mr Boyce was presented with the prize and £25,000 at a ceremony in Gateshead.
