Parrot rescue centre on Kerrera overwhelmed

Scotland's only parrot rescue centre has said it cannot cope with the daily requests to take on abandon and neglected birds.

The sanctuary, on the island of Kerrera off Oban, is currently home to 70 birds which are receiving rehabilitation and treatment for abuse as well as heart and liver disease.

Vonnie MacMillan, who runs the Island Parrot Sanctuary, says the novelty of owning a chatty parrot can quickly wear off.
