New Royal Navy aircraft carrier hull put together

Two giant hull sections of the new Royal Navy aircraft carrier being built on the Clyde have been joined together.

More than 4,000 tonnes of steel were moved in a precision exercise to form the rear section of the hull of HMS Queen Elizabeth.

The block will leave Govan for Rosyth later this year where it will enter the dry dock and all parts of the ship will be assembled.

The carrier, which will be based in Portsmouth, is due to be completed by 2016.
