Fireworks and gun blast for Edinburgh Festival
The one o'clock gun in Edinburgh was accompanied by fireworks to mark the countdown to the Edinburgh International Festival.
The largest event staged by the festival is the firework concert which sees Edinburgh Castle light up with in a pyrotechnic display.
As organisers found out, staging fireworks in sunshine proved more challenging.
