Rescuers comfort stranded whale in Forth

Rescue teams have gone to the aid of a minke whale stranded in the Firth of Forth.

The coastguard was alerted at around 08:00 to the animal in difficulty at Torry Bay, near Crombie Point, in Fife.

Firefighters have been pouring water over the whale to keep its skin from cracking.

The incident is the second of its kind in the area within a week. On Tuesday a pilot whale died in the Silverknowes area of Edinburgh after it became stranded.
