Glasgow 2014: Safety fears end tower block demolition plan
Organisers of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games say five tower blocks will now not be blown up during the opening ceremony amid safety and security concerns.
The chief executive of Glasgow 2014 says he is confident the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony will be a success after plans to blow up five tower blocks were dropped.
David Grevemberg told the BBC a decision to abandon the Red Road proposal was made after listening to the opposition fears over "safety and security concerns".
