Scottish independence: Ruth Davidson answers your questions

In the latest in a series of BBC Scotland referendum webcasts, Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson answers your questions.

Speaking to presenter Isobel Fraser, Ms Davidson said she might be persuaded to back a currency union with the rest of the UK following a "Yes" vote if it was "what is best for Scotland".

Chancellor George Osborne, supported by Labour and the Lib Dems, has ruled out such a union if Scotland becomes independent.

Asked if Mr Osborne was right to rule out a currency union, Ms Davidson said: "He wasn't speaking on behalf of what was best for Scotland, he was speaking for what was best on behalf of the rest of the UK."

She added: "I think that George Osborne, in speaking on behalf of the rest of the UK, is quite right to say that they don't want to give up some of the sovereignty of the pound to a country that's just voted to make itself foreign from the rest of the UK."

The Scottish government has said it would seek a currency union with the rest of the UK after a Yes vote in September.

Elsewhere, Ms Davidson discussed her party's plans for further devolution should Scotland vote to remain in the UK.

Voters in Scotland will go to the polls on 18 September when they will be asked the Yes/No question: "Should Scotland be an independent country?"
