Emotions as exam results are opened

Students across Scotland have been receiving their exams results for the first time since new national qualifications were introduced.

The Scottish government is phasing out the old Standard Grades which were similar to GCSEs.

There were emotional scenes as some of the 140,000 students found out how they fared. Pupils who sat Highers also received their results.

Kevin Keane reports from Armadale Academy where head teacher Campbell Hornell cautioned against comparing two different curriculums: "You're not really comparing like with like", he said .
