Scottish independence: Alistair Darling's opening statement

Better Together campaign leader Alistair Darling has made his opening statement in the televised debate between himself and Alex Salmond.

The live television debate has been taking place at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow, and topics of discussion are expected to include the currency, the NHS and North Sea oil and gas estimates.

This will be the final television debate before the referendum on Scottish independence takes place on 18 September 2014.
