Scottish referendum: Is Ireland a model for Scotland?

Scotland will face significant constitutional change whatever the result of Thursday's referendum, as more power is devolved from Westminster to Holyrood.

UK institutions and services will have to adapt and change and some new Scottish bodies may be created.

But Scotland is not the first country to face such a prospect.
