Alex Salmond resignation: Views from Aberdeen

Alex Salmond is to step down as first minister of Scotland and as leader of the Scottish National Party (SNP) after voters rejected independence in Thursday's referendum.

Following the resignation announcement, Joanna Gosling heard from people on the streets of Aberdeen.

"No" voter Judy said she wondered what would happen to the Scottish National Party now, while Ben said: "There'll be new people who come up with new ideas for Scotland".

However, "Yes" campaigner Stuart said the resignation had come as a shock and it would be difficult to fill Mr Salmond's shoes.
