Nicola Sturgeon will "wear own shoes" as SNP leader

Nicola Sturgeon has announced her plan to run for the leadership of the Scottish National Party, and to become Scotland's First Minister.

Her decision follows Alex Salmond's announcement that he will be resigning from these two positions.

She said she owed him an "immeasurable" personal debt and his legacy was "remarkable".

However she insisted she would be her "own person" and set her "own course" if elected as leader.
