First same-sex weddings in Scotland on Hogmanay
The first same sex weddings in Scotland will take place on Hogmanay.
Gay couples already in a civil partnership will also be able to change their relationship to a marriage from 16 December.
Health Secretary Alex Neil MSP made the announcement
The new rules have been welcomed by equality campaigners and the Scottish government says it signals that Scotland is committed to the same rights for all citizens.
MSPs passed the Marriage and Civil Partnership (Scotland) Act in February.
