Nicola Sturgeon becomes Scotland's first minister

The SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon has been sworn in as Scotland's first minister.

She replaces Alex Salmond, following her election to the role by MSPs.

Ms Sturgeon also took part in First Minister's Questions, striking a more conciliatory tone than her predecessor, saying she was "open minded to any proposals that come forward from any side of the chamber".

James Cook reports.
