Glasgow police dogs among the UK's first canine recruits

Edwin Richardson trained the first dogs to serve with the British Army during World War One, to carry messages and locate injured soldiers.

Before that, Mr Richardson supplied dogs to the police in Glasgow. The Airedale Terriers were among the first police dogs in Britain.
