Police Scotland knew stop-and-search data was 'not accurate'
Sir Stephen House has said that the police questioned the release of data on stop and searches recorded in Scotland.
The chief constable of Police Scotland told a meeting of the Scottish Police Authority that the Information Commissioner had ordered the publication after: "We challenged whether it should be released because we said we're not 100% certain of the accuracy of this data".
The meeting was called after BBC Scotland revealed 356 children aged under 12 had been subject to "consensual" searches despite assurances from the force that the practice would cease.
Assistant Chief Constable Nelson Telfer had earlier outlined analysis of the figures which showed that a number of the incidents were contrary to force policy.
