Armed robber steals £250,000 of watches in Edinburgh

CCTV footage shows an armed robbery in a jewellers in Edinburgh.

The pictures were released by the Crown Office after 24-year-old Matthew Ferry was sentenced to 13 years in prison for stealing watches worth almost £250,000, before hijacking a taxi with its driver and a passenger inside.

Ferry went into Laings the jewellers as it was opening for business on 2 March where he brandished an imitation gun at staff and threatened to shoot if they didn't fill his bag.

When police searched his home they found drugs, cash and weapons including a working sub machine gun.
