Could Edinburgh lose its UNESCO World Heritage status?

Concern is growing over Edinburgh's status as a UNESCO World Heritage site following the city council's planning decision for the St. James Centre redevelopment.

The scheme includes an unusual hotel which some have described as inappropriate for the architecturally-sensitive site.

Edinburgh World Heritage supports the management of the coveted area in the city.

Director of EWH, Adam Wilkinson, told BBC Scotland of his concerns that the area is in danger of losing its status.
