Nicola Sturgeon: 'Scotland ready to take refugees now'

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has said Scotland is ''ready and able'' to take Syrian refugees.

Speaking after a meeting with the UK Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond, the first minister said Scotland was willing to take a ''proportionate share'' of refugees, around 2,000, as part of the UK government's resettlement programme.

David Cameron had earlier said the UK government would take 20,000 refugees from camps on the borders of Syria over the next five years.
