Tata steel job losses 'a big blow' for workers
Tata Steel has told its workforce that it will mothball its plants in Scotland with the loss of 225 jobs at the Dalzell plate rolling works in Motherwell and 45 posts at the Clydebridge plant in Cambuslang.
The company said the two last major processors of steel in Scotland are casualties of the downturn in the world price for steel.
Tata is also announced the loss of 900 posts will at its facility in Scunthorpe. Unions have been urging the Scottish and UK governments to act to save the industry.
Workers at the Dalzell plant told the BBC that the news is devastating for them and the surrounding area.
